Merry Christmas 2014

It's that time of the year again, and this year I traveled a bit, had visitors staying over, and ended up not having a lot of time to draw and paint.
Luckily I have a folder of half baked ideas on my computer, and I went looking for something I could use as my Christmas card.
Voila!!!

So, to all my friends in our galaxy Merry Christmas and Happy New year!

Husta dress

One of my Spoonflower clients, Huguette Stachewitsch who goes by the web name Husta, made this beautiful little girl's dress with my fabric Hakea.
I love to see what other people make with my fabrics. Thank you Huguette!

I'm published in a Pattern Book

Earlier this year PATTERNPEOPLE called out for pattern designers to submit their work to feature in one of their print design books.
I submitted some of my designs, and 2 days ago got a wonderful email telling me I'd been selected.
Here it is!

Etsy Pop Up Event

Etsy WA is having a pop up Christmas market in Leederville in November.
All the WA people who have an online shop on Etsy are encouraged to apply for a place in the market and also to contribute with a promotional poster.
This is my entry.

The orange colour and the gingham are Etsy requirements. The rest is up to you.

Garden decorations

Still on the subject of my garden, and for those of you who haven't seen them, some garden decorations I made a while ago with some found and some bought objects.

The old cistern I used for the pond was dug out from underneath Audrey's house. It is full of styro foam from packaging and the ducks come from Vietnam.

My garden pergola columns

I started work on my pergola columns in 2006, and have not finished them yet. Lots of distractions along the way are the reason why.
Now I'm picking the work up again, and my goal is to finish the 3rd column by the end of 2014.
All the tiles are hand made by me and that's a long process in itself.

My Sardines

Now that the Sardine competition is over and I wasn't one of the finalists, I can publish my entries on this blog.
Here are my 3 sardines, which I believe will be shown at the exhibition along with all the other entries.

Colour in wall paper

New design for a Spoonflower weekly challenge.  It's a black and white wall paper so that people can colour it in themselves.
A good excuse for scribbling on the wall.

Whales

New pattern entered in a recent Spoonflower weekly challenge. The subject was Whales and the palette was restricted.
I didn't like the colours but I took the challenge anyway.

Wall paper
I designed it entirely on Inkscape without drawing it first, which accounts for why it looks a bit blocky and geometric, but I guess that was a challenge too.
Hopefully you can recognize the blue whale, humpbacks and sperm whales.

A new shop on Etsy

Today, the 1st of May I have finally opened my shop on Etsy.
Etsy is a USA based market online, with about 2 million members. The products in this shop are all made by me using my own fabrics.
I had a lot of help from Tasha, who did most of the work needed to set up shop, as well as sewing the pencil cases.

My new Etsy shop

Good luck to my new venture.
