Last contest for 2012

The last contest I entered this year was sponsored by the One-Yard Wonders books by Storey Publishing.
Contestants had to download a template for a little girl's Tshirt, and decorate it. The theme was "Under the Sea".
This is my entry.

Riviera Tee
I haven't tested it yet and it is too late for Christmas this year. I'll do it next year and then I'll have something to blog about again.

New Products at Society6

Society6 has added cushion covers to the range of printed goods they offer.
These are now for sale at my shop.

The print is on both sides and they come with a zipper. I think they look rather good, and I could not sell them for that price ($20) if I made them myself.

Two new contests

I've entered these designs in two new contests promoted by Spoonflower.
"Flights of Fancy" is sponsored by Mollie Makes a UK craft Magazine, and it is a palette restricted contest.

Summer Sky

"Nasher / Matisse" is sponsored by the Nasher Museum of Art which houses a collection of Matisse's paintings. Also a palette restricted contest.

Both fabrics are now for sale at my Spoonflower shop.

East Fremantle Festival

This year I've decided to try my luck, and exhibit and sell my products at the George Street Artisan Market.

I'm told only goods hand made by the sellers themselves are allowed at the market.
All my products are designed and made by me, and digitally printed in the United States by Spoonflower.
So come along everybody and support the WA crafters.

New Shop online

To all my friends, I have a new shop online with Society6. Here are some of the products they make with my designs.

Stationery cards
iPhone cases
Laptop Skins
They also make other things like framed pictures, stretched canvasses, and iPad skins.
I have put a direct link to my Society6 shop on the right hand side of this blog. If you click on any of the pictures in the shop, it will open up the page where all the different products of that particular design are listed.
I hope you all like it.

Pencil Cases

Tasha is making some pencil cases using my Spoonflower digitally printed fabrics.
Here is a photo of what she has made.

I think they look beautiful. Hopefully I'll be selling them at this year's Christmas market.

New Design, Old Idea

New fabric for sale at my Spoonflower shop. The pictures in this fabric were done by me a long time ago on some little hand made tiles which are stuck on the  yellow wall of my studio. It works really well on the fabric.

New designs

Some new designs of ravens of course. So many come to visit the garden every day, I can't help but use them in my patterns.

A Japanese connection

A Japanese lady called Masumi bought some of my fabrics from the Spoonflower shop a few weeks ago.
Yesterday she got in touch with me and sent me the link to her blog so I could see what she had been making with the fabric. Unfortunately I can't read Japanese so I posted her pictures here.
Aren't these bags just beautiful.

Thank you Masumi, this is really wonderful.

Possum fabric

At Meg's request I've designed some new fabrics with possums only.
She would like just possums by themselves, and small patterns, the sort you find in quilters fabrics.
According to Meg there's hardly any on the market, and not suitable for the little pouches she makes.
These are now for sale at my Spoonflower shop.

Textile Digital Printing

I've watched a few YouTube videos about digital printing on textiles.
I thought I would post one here for my friends who would like to know how it works.

This one is from Spoonflower with whom I print my fabrics.

Another revisit

I've revisited some patterns I designed a while ago, when I was learning how to design a collection.
I called it GeoGarden because it is part geometric and part floral.
Now I've entered those patterns in a Spoonflower cheaters quilt contest.

I've also designed a couple of fake rooms, and tried the patterns as a bed set,

And as wallpaper

I'm still amazed at the things one can do on a computer.

Meg's Possum Pouches

Meg has just sent me a photo of the possum pouches she makes. It is very exciting to see my fabrics being used and especially for such a good cause.

A nice thing happened

A couple of weeks ago, a wildlife carer from Cairns, found my Spoonflower shop online and bought some of my Oz Animals fabric. She then send me a message telling me what she was using the fabric for. Here is some of what she said:
"I rescue and care for injured Aussie wildlife. And I make possum pouches for the little joeys. There is so little fabric with possums or anything other than bats. Bats only get plenty of fabric designs because of Halloween. I'll send you pix of what your fabric is used for later if you like."
In the meantime she sent me a picture of one of her charges.

Meg also sent me some links to her films that she posts on Youtube.

Doing other things

I've been so busy doing other things that I haven't had the time to write my blog.
I haven't been designing much either, but I've managed to enter a couple more of the Spoonflower contests.

1. Geometric shapes, palette limited.

I didn't like their choice of colours so I'll change them later.

2. Stars & Stripes

I think this one was meant to be about the 4th of July, but I'm not American so I decided to do whatever I liked.

Hand Drawn contest

I've entered another Spoonflower contest, this one using hand drawn patterns only.
Lots of people loved it but I didn't make it to the final.
But it is a lot of fun and gives me some exposure.

My First Tea Towels

These are my first purpose designed Tea Towels.

And here they are for real, digitally printed by Spoonflower

Another contest

I've entered another Spoonflower contest and didn't win of course.
This one was called Urban Sightings, and you had to choose one or more pictures provided by them, and design a fabric that visually related to your choice.
I chose this photo.

And this is the design I created.

I named it "Life under foot". My garden is paved with this pattern, and these are the things I see living on the pavement.

An old Idea revisited

I made this ceramic tiles some 15 years ago.

Recently I decided to reuse them to create a repeat pattern. I also added a coordinate which is based on the Mioporum, an Australian native ground cover.

Collections

This is the latest thing I've learned from Spoonflower.
How to design and organize my patterns into Collections.
